One of the most reliable measures of the efficiency of an SEO campaign is traffic growth. By installing a special script called Google Analytics, you can monitor the number of visits keywords are bringing to your site. Here you can check the basic instructions on getting started with Google Analytics (settings up an account and installing tracking code).
By default, the traffic data is shown for the recent 30-day period (checking day excluded). For example, if you access your account on May 31, you will see the number of visits for the period from April 30 till May 30. Here’s how the data looks like in a Google Analytics account.
This data can be easily integrated into your RankTracker project and analyzed along with keyword efficiency stats and rankings in search engines.
To start monitoring traffic in RankTracker, open any of your projects, and go to 'Preferences > Google Analytics Settings'.
Note that Google Analytics account is a project-specific setting. You can connect individual accounts to each project or have one account duplicated across projects for the same domain in other SEO PowerSuite tools by enabling synchronization of settings.
Once your Google Analytics account is connected to your project, you are a few clicks away from getting traffic stats for your keywords.
To fetch the data, select the keywords in your Workspace, then hit the Update Traffic button and choose the Organic Traffic option. Click on the settings icon and select to update the Google Analytics data.
In a few moments, you'll see the results for the recent 30-day period in the respective columns next to each keyword.
Organic Traffic (GA) section in the bottom tab will show you the traffic growths over time. You can change the visualized period for the graph at the bottom right corner (or by scrolling the mouse wheel).
It would be convenient to add the Ranking Page(s) column. In case there are multiple pages ranking for the same keyword (in the same or different search engines), sessions and bounce rates for them will be displayed in the same order, separated by a semicolon.
'Not provided' is the label you see in Google Analytics reports instead of actual keywords that bring visitors to your site. This happens when Google processes requests via the so-called secure (encrypted) search.
To supplement GA hidden stats, RankTracker allows you to check Organic Traffic and Organic Page Traffic calculated with 91% precision& based on:
+ some other factors.
To check the organic traffic you get, select keywords in your Workspace, hit the Update Traffic button, and choose the Organic Traffic option. Click on the settings icon and select RankTracker's 'Organic traffic'.
Once the stats are calculated, you will find the results in Organic Traffic and Organic Page Traffic columns. If the columns are not visible in your Workspace, right-click on any column header and add them from the list.
You may check the Organic Traffic for your competitors' websites as well - to get all the invaluable insights on how much traffic they get organically, which keywords they get it through, and to which pages it's steered.
